How do you use your vehicle?

Mileage and driving environment determine contamination levels – bugs, brake dust, road film, and interior wear.

Where does it live?

Your region’s climate and where the vehicle sleeps at night are the biggest drivers of paint and corrosion risk.

Country

Used only to pull live local weather (temperature, UV index, snow) for this analysis. Never stored or shared.
If you enter both, ZIP / postal code wins. We resolve it to coordinates, then fetch real weather from Open-Meteo. If the weather service cannot be reached, the tool says so – it never invents weather.
Where is it usually parked overnight? Overnight parking determines roughly 8 hours of daily exposure. Outdoor parking in a sunny climate can more than double UV and contamination damage versus a garage.
Please choose where it is parked.
Household factors – these heavily affect interior wear

Your personalized car care plan

Risk analysis

Ten risk factors scored 0-100 from your vehicle, location, and habits. Higher means more attention needed – each bar lists exactly what drives it.

Priority checklist

If you do nothing else, do these five things first – ordered by impact on your vehicle’s condition and value.

Your recommendations

Every card shows what to do, how often, and why – plus a confidence badge explaining whether it comes from established detailing practice, your environmental data, or your stated preferences.

12-month maintenance timeline

Your year at a glance, starting this month. Washing is continuous; deeper tasks land in the months they matter most.

Scheduled task Ongoing / continuous Current month

Seasonal guidance

Car care is seasonal. Here is what each season demands for your specific climate – the current season is highlighted.

Recommended products

Matched to your budget and wash method. No sponsored placements – these are the product types professionals actually reach for, with honest tier picks.

Annual cost estimator

What your personalized plan costs per year, itemized. Toggle to compare doing it yourself versus hiring professionals.

Live data for this plan

Real data fetched at plan time – never invented. If a source is unreachable, that panel says so and the plan simply does not use it.

How your scores are calculated

Every number below is computed from your answers with the exact formula shown. Nothing here is a physical inspection, a measurement taken from your car, or a guarantee of its condition.

Main findings at a glance

Tap the button and AI will turn this long report into short bullets with the main findings, in plain English. It never creates recommendations – those always come from the expert rule engine above. No API key is needed from you, and nothing about you is stored: only your plan’s scores and recommendation titles are sent to the backend when you click the button.

Checking AI connection…
Methodology & disclaimer. What this is – and what it is not. This plan is generated by a transparent expert rule engine: every schedule, score, and product pick is computed from your answers using general automotive detailing principles (UV degradation of clear coat, road-salt corrosion, mineral water-spotting, brake-dust contamination, interior wear). Scores are planning indices, not a diagnosis: no one inspected your car, no sensor data was used, and a score cannot prove your paint or body is in any particular condition. Cost figures are planning estimates, not quotes; product names are illustrative examples, not sponsored picks. Live weather (Open-Meteo) and recalls (US NHTSA) are labelled with their source and fetch time whenever they are used. The optional AI summary only rephrases this plan and never adds advice. This is educational guidance, not professional advice – always follow your vehicle manufacturer’s manual, and consult a certified detailer for paint correction or coating work.

How the Car Care Advisor works

Most car care advice online is generic: “wash every two weeks, wax twice a year.” But a black SUV parked outside in Phoenix faces completely different threats than a silver sedan garaged in Minnesota. The Car Care Advisor replaces one-size-fits-all tips with a personalized plan built from your actual situation.

Our expert methodology

Unlike a chatbot, this tool does not guess. It uses a deterministic expert system: each recommendation is produced by an explicit rule (for example, outdoor parking + high-UV state + dark paint → shorter wash interval, stronger UV protection, ceramic coating suggested), and every recommendation card explains its reasoning and labels its confidence source as established practice, environmental data, or your preference. Risk factors are grounded in well-understood automotive science: UV degradation of clear coat, road-salt corrosion, mineral water-spotting, brake-dust ferrous contamination, and interior wear patterns. Scores are planning indices computed from your answers (the exact formula is shown on your results page under “How your scores are calculated”), not a physical inspection. Live weather comes from Open-Meteo and vehicle recalls from the US NHTSA database, each labelled with its source and fetch time; if either source is unreachable, the tool says so and does not substitute invented data.

Why personalized car care matters

  • Protect resale value. Paint condition is one of the first things buyers and appraisers judge. Consistent, correct care preserves thousands in value.
  • Prevent expensive damage. Bird droppings and bug splatter etch clear coat within days in summer heat; road salt starts corrosion in weeks. The right schedule prevents both.
  • Stop wasting money. Over-washing with harsh methods causes swirl marks; under-protecting in harsh climates shortens paint life. A tuned plan spends where it counts.
  • Stay safe. Clean glass, maintained tires, and clear lighting are safety items – not cosmetics.

Car care tips from our guides

  • Always wash in the shade or during cool hours – soap drying on hot paint is the #1 cause of water spots.
  • Use the two-bucket method with grit guards and a pH-neutral shampoo to prevent swirl marks.
  • Dry with a plush microfiber drying towel or forced-air dryer; never let a car air-dry in the sun.
  • In road-salt regions, rinse the undercarriage weekly through winter – corrosion starts where you can’t see it.
  • Remove bird droppings and bug splatter as soon as possible; their acids etch clear coat fast in heat.
  • Condition leather every 3 months to prevent cracking, and vacuum interiors weekly if pets ride along.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The full analysis – risk scores, schedules, product recommendations, timeline, and cost estimates – is free with no account required. Your answers never leave your browser.

By a transparent expert rule engine, not a black-box AI. Each recommendation comes from an explicit rule based on professional detailing best practices, and every card explains why it was recommended for you specifically.

Yes. All US states (plus Washington DC) and all Canadian provinces and territories are supported, with climate profiles covering snow belts, coastal salt air, deserts, and high-UV regions. Vehicle recall checks use the US NHTSA database, so they run for US vehicles only.

They are planning estimates based on typical 2026 US/Canada pricing for DIY supplies and professional services, adjusted for your schedule and budget tier. Actual prices vary by region and provider – treat them as a budgeting guide, not a quote.

Your core plan is computed in your browser and your answers are saved only in your own browser’s local storage so you can resume or compare plans. Three public lookups can leave the browser: a ZIP/city goes to Open-Meteo (geocoding + forecast), a US make/model/year goes to the NHTSA recalls database, and – only if you click “Generate AI summary” – your plan’s scores and recommendation titles go to this site’s own backend (a Cloudflare Worker) to be rephrased. Your ZIP, name, and full answers are never sent to the AI backend, and nothing is sold or stored by the tool.

Yes, when it is shown. Live weather is fetched from Open-Meteo at the moment you generate your plan, using your ZIP/postal code or city resolved to coordinates, and the results page names the resolved place, the values, and the fetch time. If Open-Meteo cannot be reached or your location is not found, the page says so plainly and your plan falls back to your state/province’s typical climate profile only – today’s weather does not silently change anything in that case.

No. The AI is only allowed to rephrase the plan the rule engine already produced, in plain English. It is given the scores and recommendation titles – nothing else – and instructed not to add products, schedules, frequencies, or advice. The summary is labelled with the model that wrote it, and if the AI backend is unavailable, the summary is simply unavailable; your full plan is complete without it.

Yes – use the “Download / print plan” button on your results page. It produces a clean, print-optimized version you can save as a PDF or print for your garage.

Re-run the analysis with your updated answers. The tool’s “What changed?” panel will show you exactly which recommendations shifted – for example, moving from a garage to outdoor parking.
